Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, all label orders receive a digital proof for copy review. Any label order can receive a printed proof of color upon request. You may want to ask for a printed proof if you are unsure about the true color of your printed label, since it will vary from how your computer monitor displays color.

Sizes: The largest die-cut label size we can create on our equipment is 16″ wide by 24″ long. If you need a larger size, call us at 1-800-475-2235, and a member of our customer service team will gladly review your options and recommend the best solution for your label.

Colors: Flexographic printing can handle up to 12 colors (or 11 colors plus a UV coating), while digital printing allows for up to 10 colors (or nine colors plus a UV coating).

White ink is considered a printing color, but whether we print white ink on your labels depends on the material. Materials like semi-gloss paper and white film don’t need white ink, while others like clear, metallic, and brown kraft often require white underpainting. This process would include adding a layer of white ink beneath your design to improve color accuracy and legibility.

Yes, the minimum for short-run label orders is 100 labels. If you need a small run of custom labels, or would like to explore blank and printed sheets of labels, visit OnlineLabels.

Small-label orders are usually shipped via UPS or FedEx. Larger orders of multiple boxes are normally palletized and shipped by a trucking carrier. Shipping costs are not included in the price of the labels unless specified. We'll ship labels using your UPS, FedEx, or freight account if provided. At this time, we do not ship via USPS.

You will receive an email once your labels are shipped with complete order information, including your package's tracking number.

If you reorder your labels without any changes, there are no plate charges or art setup fees. You can re-order your labels in two ways:

Online: visit the Reorder section in My Account

Phone: call our customer service department at 1-800-475-2235

For exact color matching, we use Pantone spot colors, which allow us to use shades beyond standard CMYK printing. You can include your Pantone Matching System (PMS) color in your artwork or send a physical sample to work from as a reference.

If you don't have a PMS color, tools like the Pantone Formula Guide or Adobe Illustrator can help you find the closest match. Our team can assist with this during pre-press.

We are a GMI-certified printer that follows strict color consistency standards across production and reorders to ensure good color matching and print quality results.

You may want to add a UV coating or laminate finish to your labels for several reasons. Adding a finish to your labels provides extra protection and improves durability based on how your labels will be used. There are two main types of label finishes:
  • UV coating is a liquid varnish cured with UV light that offers protection against elements. We also offer spot UV coating, which covers specific areas of your design for texture and contrast.
  • Lamination is a film that covers the entire label and offers stronger protection against abrasion, chemicals, and weather conditions.
You may not want a label finish for a few reasons.
  • You'd like to keep the original texture of your label material. This is common for materials like brown kraft and estate papers.
  • You need the surface of your label to be writable.

If you’re unsure which finish is best or need a specialty finish, please call our customer service team at 1-800-475-2235.
